Hi Ron, I live, work and play at Lake Chapala.
A two bedroom two bath house in a nice area will start at around $400 and go up as high as you want to spend depending upon views, amenities and location.
I’m an exclusive Buyer’s Only Realtor (no fee to my clients for my real estate services). I just look after your best interests as the buyer.
Of course at first almost everyone is looking for a rental. Here’s a link to a number of rental agencies in the area.

Now here’s a look (via an audio I recorded) into the Mexican culture and how to be sure your rental is really ready.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information or have other questions. Sid
